Here are 3 templates that counsellors working with children and young people could use as a more visual aid and way of communicating the counselling contract. There is a blank one where you could fill in your own information or questions. There is one with key questions included. The third has key questions but added pictures / symbols. There is a black and white version and colour version of each of the 3 templates. Play therapists may also adapt the templates for their work with children and young people.

Here are two writing frames for children to record, write or draw what makes them happy and what makes them sad. There are two worked examples to share and talk about with the children showing what makes this pretend child feel happy and sad. Children can write single words depending on their ability level and / or paste in pictures to illustrate their feelings. This is a great way to get to know your new class too.

There are 2 sheets - a girl and a boy sheet - children draw their own ways of looking after themselves and write about these. 4 / 5. These show bears exercising indoors and out. Children write in the templates showing they are aware of how exercise and well - being can take place indoors and outdoors. This is a lovely colour sheet showing foods that are and are not healthy for you. Children are asked to distinguish between them and write a list of all the healthy foods.

This resource has 36 cards to cut out and discuss with children. The theme starts with ways in which we take care of ourselves and stretches outwards to cover ways in which we can take care of our world. The cards can be used to make posters too, and there is a poster design idea on the first page of the resource to stimulate children. Cards can be sorted into ME and My World too.

4 pages of colour flashcards, each showing 6 fish. Children cut out the cards and describe what feelings or emotions the fish are showing. Start simply with happy and sad and then move on to other emotions such as surprised, angry, shocked etc. Duplicate and laminate the cards for matching games. Children could attempt to copy the emotions they see in the fish - they could use a mirror to help them.

Children read the sentences and find out which occupation each one describes. 3 and 4.
